Our History

We have humble origins. In 1971, one person drove a privately owned vehicle to deliver disabled people to necessary medical appointments. This person inspired the beginnings of the "Carefree Transportation Society". By 1972, the office at 2832 Queensway Street was constructed and used as an operations centre. The picture to the left is how our building looked back then. Today it looks pretty much the same. Badly in need of maintenance in 2016, the office staff inside controls the booking and delivery of vehicles to shuttle registered people between the departure point and their choice of destinations. Over the years, we have delivered thousands of individual people to where ever they wanted to go. We have also had support from many local charities in our earlier days such as the Lions and Kinsmen Clubs of Prince George, our custom buses were tagged with our brand "Carefree Transportation Service" by 1980. By that tme, we had formed provincial partnerships with BC Transit who shared our goal of providing accessible transprtation to the people of BC. They had created fleet of smaller custom transportation vehicles called HandyDART, based off of the successes we had in Prince George. Below is the BC Transit style of custom bus we have used since 2010. More will be found on our BLOG here eventually.
