AGM June 2019 Retirements, Awards and Donations

AGM Preamble

On June 20th 2019, we had our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 530 PM in AIMHI, 950 Kerry Street in Prince George.  Someone noticed that it’s getting close to our 50th AGM, and a discussion ensued that led into the Agenda for the next hour and a half.  during the AGM we learned of an Award that was given to Kathy Hickman (along with Prince George’s B.C. Bus North Operations Manager Rosalind Layton). Kathy is our long time Executive Director who is retiring on June 30th 2019.  Shanee Newton will step in to the Executive Director position then.  Other board members were elected after the announcements, all positions were refilled…

Guest Speaker

We had a guest speaker from Brownridge Insurance  who explained our Non-Profit Liability policy and why it was important for our protection.   Yes, if you are on the executive of a Non-Profit board please ensure that board has your liability covered.  Brownridge is who we would recommend if that board is in the Prince George area, if you need it.  They are the only local insurance company in Prince George and they’re family owned.

We gave away an older bus from our fleet

We donated a 2007 Dodge Sprinter which is also fully equipped with a lift system to Prince George’s chapter of the Big Brother’s and Sisters.  It will replace a 15 seater, that due to age & wear and tear maintenance costs could no longer be used for their needs.  Several executive members of the organization c/w a driver attended the AGM and accepted the vehicle from Carefree Representative Terry Pipkey.  We were very proud to hand it over to such a worthy organization dedicated to the youth of Prince George
